The name Kyle Hall first appeared on a record sleeve in 2007, when he was just 17. He came under the tutelage of Detroit luminaries like Rick Wilhite, Mike Huckaby and Omar-S in the early stages of his education, and released his first 12-inch through the latter's FXHE label.
Although released in 2015, From Joy is comprised only of tracks made pre-2010, back when Hall was in his late teens. Teens, or rather childhood, for Hall this represents a period in life when we are “most honest and present”. It's raw, melancholic Detroit house.
The excellent artwork on the vinyl is courtesy of Hall’s friend James Grady.
